How to connect a Namecheap, GoDaddy or Squarespace domain to a Lovable site

Quick answer. You add two DNS records where you bought the domain: an A record for the bare domain and a CNAME record for www. The values come from whoever hosts your site. Inside Lovable that needs a paid plan. If your Lovable site is hosted on Lovely Hosting, the records are an A record for @ pointing to 76.76.21.21 and a CNAME record for www pointing to cname.vercel-dns.com.

Which records do I need?

TypeName or hostValue
A@76.76.21.21
CNAMEwwwcname.vercel-dns.com

These are the values for a site hosted on Lovely Hosting. If you connect the domain inside Lovable on a paid plan instead, use the values Lovable shows you in the project's domain settings.

Where do I add them at Namecheap?

  1. Sign in and open Domain List.
  2. Click Manage next to your domain, then open the Advanced DNS tab.
  3. Delete the parking page records Namecheap added by default.
  4. Click Add New Record and enter the two records above. Save.

Where do I add them at GoDaddy?

  1. Sign in and open My Products.
  2. Next to your domain choose DNS, or Manage DNS.
  3. Edit the existing A record for @ so it holds the new value, or delete it and add a new one.
  4. Add the CNAME record for www. If one already exists, edit it instead of adding a second.

Where do I add them at Squarespace?

  1. Open Domains in your Squarespace account and click the domain.
  2. Open DNS Settings.
  3. Remove the Squarespace default records if the domain is not used for a Squarespace site.
  4. Add the two custom records above.

How long does it take?

Usually a few minutes to an hour, occasionally up to a day. The security certificate is issued automatically once the records are visible. If it still fails after a day, see why a Lovable custom domain is not working.

No domain yet? On Lovely Hosting you can search for one and buy it at cost during checkout, and it is connected for you with no records to enter.

Common questions

Does Lovable sell domains?

Lovable's paid plans let you connect a domain and offer a way to get one from inside the editor. You can also buy a domain from any registrar and connect it.

Do I have to move my domain away from Namecheap or GoDaddy?

No. The domain stays registered where it is. You only change where it points.

Will my email stop working?

Not if you only change the A record for @ and the CNAME for www. Email uses MX records, so leave those alone.
